The useful distinction
Role describes how a team intends to use a player. Opportunity describes the chances the player actually receives. Production describes the result. A change in the last one does not automatically establish a change in the first.
Read two channels separately
A back can receive rushing work and passing-game work. One can fall while the other rises. The same principle applies to a mobile quarterback’s passing and rushing involvement. A single total can hide those differences.
What would strengthen the view?
Look for repeated evidence of participation and assignment across different game situations. One performance can raise a question; it should not settle a durable role claim.
Follow a real example
